Flowers
at La Cassinazza
As La
Cassinazza
gradually reverted to a more natural landscape, plants and flowers were
free to recolonise this newly available land.
Some species, particularly trees and shrubs, were planted on
purpose, but wild grasses and most flowers colonised the area
spontaneously.
Starting in 2004, the many species of plants flowering over the course
of the year began to attract our attention, and we began to record
their appearance. This led to a desire to document their presence and
create a photographic archive.
We thus gradually built up an archive of images, which can be
considered as a sort of virtual herbarium.
Being rank amateurs, we were naturally drawn to the most conspicuous
flowers - in terms of colours, scent, abundance, or shape - and
therefore our herbarium makes no pretense of being complete, nor
scientific in approach.
Quite simply, it contains the species that most captured our attention.
